Glacier Peak backpacking trip

Sunrise, moonset Glacier Peak from Buck Creek Pass
In mid August I spent a week backpacking in the Glacier Peak Wilderness.  Finally got to see what Buck Creek Pass looks like on a clear day.  Also, experienced Miner's Ridge for the first time - amazing place, one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.  Lyman Lakes and Spider Gap completed the loop.  Perfect trip - except it went way too fast.  Nice to be on a trail again though.

William and I hiked the quick two miles to the summit of Tumalo Mountain (7,775') this past July.  Hard to believe I ad never been there.  Nice trail - would be fun to snow shoe in the winter.

Fall Creek on way up to Green Lakes

In mid July I went over to Bend on my own and went on a snowy day hike up to Green Lakes.  It had been almost 30 years since I was last here.  Beautiful hike up a tumbling creek to this still snowed in lakes basin between the sisters and Broken Top.  I climbed up on the flanks of Broken Top for an amazingly clear view all the way north to Mt Rainier.  Gorgeous day.  Sparks lake was a side trip on the way home.  I decided then and there that I needed to bring my kayak here next time - which I did.  Excellent paddling!

Fall Creek

Fall Creek
After a wet spring we finally had summer start in late June, or so we thought.  A wet mid-July weekend made me stir crazy at home.  I drug the family out of the house to go for a hike along nearby Fall Creek, thinking that a temperate rain forest hike along a babbling stream in the rain would be a fine diversion from the fact that summer was reluctant to begin.  It was a fine hike, though it did not actually rain on us during the hike.  A good choice, I must say.
