Broken Top and Tam McArthur Rim

Mt Bachelor
We managed to fit in a weekend backpacking trip from Three Creeks Lakes over Tam McArthur Rim and into the high country surrounding Broken Top.  Spectacular country, all of it new for me.  Great wildflowers.  The Rim trail is crazy crowded, but once you get beyond the top of the rim the crowds disappear and you have thousands of acres of wide open alpine country to explore.

July: Central Oregon base camp and Salmon River rafting

Paulina Creek
In July we spent a week and a half roaming around central Oregon from our home base in Bend.  A couple of overnighters to Little Lava Lake and to Crater Lake were interspersed with day trips and some quality time hanging out in Bend.  After returning to work for a week I headed to Idaho for an eight day rafting trip on the main Salmon River.  I finally got to see and experience a slice of the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness.  Great trips, great month.

Finishing out the summer...June

Rialto Beach
Two separate trips to Washington - one to the Olympic coast and another to Lake Sawyer near Tacoma rounded out the rest of June.  We also squeezed in a camping trip up the McKenzie River.
