It's Fall

On the slopes of Mt Pisgah
Cool and crisp - cold, actually; the weather has taken a turn toward fall now. I hiked to the top of Mt Pisgah with a friend on Saturday. We had to take an alternate route to the top because of an on-going logging operation on the main trail - an attempt to restore some oak savanna near the summit. I cheer those efforts on - we have plenty of second growth Doug firs and the oaks are so beautiful when they stand out on their own. To me they look like warmth and sunshine amidst the deep and dark evergreens.

Metolius River Weekend

The Metolius River
We spent a September weekend camping at the Metolius. Beautiful and warm, it is one of my favorite spots in the state.

Labor Day Weekend at Waldo Lake ... again

Cool and cloudy view across the lake

We were at Waldo Lake for the Labor Day weekend again. along with half of South Eugene it seemed. The weekend started out warm and summerlike, with much swimming and boating, but ended cold - with some snow falling by Monday. This has been a strange weather year indeed.
