I hadn't been back to Crack-in-the-Ground since the 1980's so William and I headed out on a road trip in the Subaru.  The Crack is still a great feature to explore.  We hiked through it and along the edge. Afterwards, we drove out to the Lost Forest, another of my college years favorite. That was a mistake.  The OHV crowd has succeeded incompletely destroying the area.  I didn't have the heart to go look at the Fossil Lake Sand Dunes.  Too sad.

A cold New Year's day is a good time to go explore lava tubes around Bend.  We enjoyed a few of the more obscure caves and escaped to cold outside.  Fun to take the Subie out in the snow too.

New Years in Bend

A bit of arctic cold and some snow and sun. A great week to be over in central Oregon

Horse Rock Meadows

Escaping the fog in the valley, Ken and I head for the Coburg Hills. Hiked Horse Rock Meadows, exploring some of the interconnected meadows and openings.
