A winter adventure on the Olympic Peninsula

Lake Quinault Lodge

Last week we headed north.  Two nights at Lake Quinault Lodge, three at the Bogie cabin, and another on Bainbridge island.  Hiked the old growth trails of the Quinault, enjoyed eight inches of snow at the Bogie, and skied Hurricane Ridge as well.  It was a great mix of the familiar and some less familiar places.  I had not been to Hurricane Ridge in many years, same with Lake Quinault.  So much green and water.

Smith Rock

A warm February Saturday and a visit to Smith Rock State Park for a hike.  There is a reason I don't venture to Smith very often anymore, crowds. And they were there with a vengeance.  But it is a beautiful place and the backside trails offered some respite from the throngs. Good to be on a trail again, in any case.

Looking toward Nooksack Ridge

A long road trip for a three day weekend skiing at Mt Baker.  One bluebird day and one storm day.  Perfect.  It was nice to get back into some real mountains.  Sorry, Warren, no photos of the truck yet!
