Sky Lakes

Snow Lakes Camp

Ken and I followed up the Hunt's Cove trip with a couple nights in the Seven Lakes Basin of Sky Lakes Wilderness.  Again, perfect weather and few bugs.  Quite a few PCT through hikers in the area now, though.  It was good to finally get into this area after many years of thinking about it.  A Crater Lake stopover on the way home was a great bonus.

Ken, Maria, and I spent three nights in Hunt's Cove.  Beautiful weather, few bugs, and not too many people made for a very relaxing stay.

Prowell Springs

Looking down from one of the many springs

Last Friday I did the Bridge Creek hike out of the Tumalo Falls trailhead.  Always a wonderfully quiet and beautiful walk, I ended up scouting out the site of Prowell Springs, one of Bend's surface water sources.  It is a spectacular spring, one of so many in the central Cascades of Oregon.

Scott's Bluff

Scott's Bluff Beach

Went to the Bogie for our annual work party and learned about an access trail to a beach we had not yet explored.  The trail accesses the beach north of Third Beach and was a welcomed addition to our usual outings here.  We will be back - with more time and a low tide - to explore more.

Oakridge

Salmon Creek

Maria and I spent a couple of nights in Oakridge.  Tried out the mountain biking here.  It is tough.  But Salmon Creek was beautiful.

Navaho Pass

Campsite, just below Navaho Pass

Maria, Will, and I enjoyed a perfect overnight backpack to Navaho Pass in the Teanaway River area of Washington.  We had a permit for Thunder Creek in the N Cascades, but the weather looked better to the south and east so we changed our plans.  So glad we did, we were able to hike to 6,100' in perfect weather and enjoy views of the Stuart Range.  Really great hike.
