Winter 2021-22 has arrived, late, in Central Oregon

Tumalo Falls

Tumalo Falls is a go-to for a quick outing in the snow, just 15 minutes from home to the trailhead.  We chose snowshoes as our means of travel this time and broke trail the entire 3 1/2 miles into the falls.  I was surprised to run into zero people until our return on the road back to the car.  It was delayed, but so glad to finally see a winter wonderland here.

Something new on the Metolius

Crazy big springs ahead!

Every now and then you get to see something new right in your own backyard.  Well, new to me.  I had never hiked the right side trail along the Metolius below Lower Canyon Campground until now.  Just below the campground are some of the biggest springs I've seen around here.  It is a beautiful stretch of trail.  Glad for some unseasonably warm early December weather and a day off.  Nice to get out and see new stuff close to home.

An impressive amount of water
