Chush Creek Falls Hike

Chush Falls

I had a free Saturday, a rarity of late, so Maria and I decided to take a hike before the high country gets snowed in.  We chose Chush Creek, a nearby waterfall trail that neither of us had ever visited.  It was a perfect cool day adventure.  The trail was mostly empty and the falls were rewarding.  Some snow and ice lingered from our last cold snap, and await the next storms which will be upon us soon.  This was a very enjoyable day spent together, empty nesting is good so far!

Olympic Peninsula Beaches

Third Beach

November is a good time to visit the Olympic Peninsula.  No, really.  Usually it is wet and wild, which is great.  Often it is calm and sunny, like last week, which is also great.  The crowds are not too bad, though the beaches are not as empty as they were a couple of decades ago (what is?)

Bremerton

Bremerton Harbor
Having spent little time in downtown Bremerton, I was exciting to attend a GIS conference there last week.  Bremerton is a Navy town and, as such, has not been lifted by the "rising tide" of Puget Sound economic expansion to the extent that a place in its setting would be reasonably expected.  In other words, it is a bit of a dump.  Still, it was fun to spend a few days on the Sound and in a place I did not know very well.  Plus, it was only an hour to downtown Seattle by ferry.  I had a great time.
