Wind River Range

Start of the trip
I spent the first week of August on a nine day backpack of the Wind River Range.  Hard to believe it has been 20 years since Ken and I last visited the Winds.  Took William this time and did the epic north-south high route from Green River Lakes to Big Sandy.  What to say?  The Winds are awesome in every way.  These photos do not do it justice.

It is really best to see Crater Lake by boat

In July we spent a day at Crater Lake with friends from Olympia.  It was a terrible snow year, followed by a really warm summer.  The alpine meadows along the rim, which should be lush and full of wildflowers at this time of year were parched and brittle.  Distressing for me to see.  The boat ride was great though, well worth the cost and hassle.

Still beautiful from the rim too
