Snow ghosts

Somewhere along the Sparks Lake run at Bachelor
After a couple of weeks of storms the skies parted at Mt Bachelor and revealed a beautiful snowy landscape. Well worth the wait!

Winter Waterfall Walk

We had a one day break in the series of Pacific storms that have slammed through Oregon over the last week so a friend and I headed off for a hike.  This is perfect waterfall weather.  We headed south to Roseburg, up the Umpqua River and then up the Little River to Hemlock Creek.  Neither of us had ever been here and it was a treat.  Waterfalls and trails in all directions as well as two lakes and some beautiful old growth mixed with 40 year old clear cuts.  We saw not a single other hiker the whole day.  We did see numerous falls and raging creeks as well as some sun, some snow, and some wind.  Great day.

Snow returns to the PNW

We finally experienced a little bit of winter this past weekend. A couple feet of snow on both sides of the mountains and five plus feet at Bachelor. Fun and challenging powder skiing.
