January

View from Pilot Butte looking over Bend
We were in Bend a fair amount of the time in January.  Here are some more shots from the sunny east side of the mountains.

Sunset Bay - Cape Arago

Hiking near Sunset Bay
I had a three day weekend for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and since Eugene has been locked into a week of freezing fog, we headed to the coast.  Good call, it turns out.  Beautiful mid 50's weather, no wind, and no crowds - the coast at its best.  The hike along Cape Arago - Shore Acres- Sunset Bay is some of the best on the west coast.  A perfect coastal weekend.

catching up

Brrrrrrds outside our Bend home on a cold morning

It has been a while since I posted anything.  We spent the holidays in Bend and Eugene.  This year the weather was normal - winter!  Bend had a white Christmas and beyond.  After the snow stopped it became cold and crisp - hovering around zero at night and beautifully sunny.  This made for great skiing and hiking weather.
