Heading south to the "Land of Umpqua"

Canton Creek
We seldom head south from Eugene, but when we do we always wonder why we don't do it more often.  The Umpqua River, particularly the North Fork, is truly spectacular and full of nooks and crannies to explore.  Last weekend we camped along Canton Creek, a small tributary to the North Umpqua near Steamboat.  Great swimming and no mosquitoes - a definite bonus on this epic bug summer.  We need to make a point to head this way more often in the future.

4th of July

Tumalo Falls
Perfect summer weather for the 4th of July in Bend.  This small city has amazing energy around it, with some sort of community event happening almost every day in the summer.  The 4th is big here, and we enjoyed the biggest pet parade I have ever seen as well as a pancake breakfast and some bike exploring around town.  The hike to Tumalo Falls and beyond was beautiful and basically in the outskirts of town.  A good weekend.
