Ski Weekend at Bachelor/Sun River

Sunday morning walk in Sun River

We spent a couple of days skiing at Mt Bachelor this weekend. Friday was great - fresh powder and lots of sun. William had fun boarding through the trees with us. Saturday was stormier, but still fun. Maria and I spent the day on the west side of the mountain while William went to the High Desert Museum with friends. We had a nice morning Sunday, walking along the Deschutes River in alternating sun and snow. Still winter for a bit longer I guess.

Snow shoe trip to Midnight Lake

Midnight Lake
We spent the last day of February on a snow shoe outing from the Gold Lake snow park. There had been some new snow in the past few days so conditions were pretty good - though it was too warm on this day. William was trying out his new snow shoes and did well. Though he expended much of his energy in off trail "mountaineering" exploits, he still managed to make it about five miles total. I jogged ahead to visit Midnight Lake, in the Diamond Peak Wilderness. Nothing exciting, but it was nice to get out of the house.
