While not quite the same as a Hawaii beach vacation, the Oregon coast is closer (and cheaper). We took Lowell over to Lagoon CG, south of Florence, for one night and then moved up to Washburne SP for a couple more nights. It was a beautiful warm January weekend and we had Lagoon pretty much to ourselves. This would probably be my top choice for a central coast camping spot if not for the OHVers who, while not allowed to stay at Lagoon, nonetheless manage to crowd out the rest of us with their noise. Makes you wish for $4.00 a gallon gas again...
