Denver to Bend in Winter

Looking out Across the Upper Arkansas River Valley

I had an opportunity I could not pass up.  A friend was driving out to ski in Aspen for a week and invited me to fly to Denver and join him for the drive back.  It was winter, it was cold, but it was glorious.  We wandered through Colorado, exploring the headwaters of legendary rivers (Platte, Arkansas, San Juan, Rio Grande), camping in minus 11 temps, uncrowded, perfect.  Dropped down to Four Corners, revisited the Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway, Bears Ears, and then up to Ogden, through City of Rocks, and on home to Bend.  I am so glad I said yes.

The Dugway! Fantastic. There are some incredible spots in that area. Glad to see southern Colorado wasn't overrun with Texans. -W
