Frank Church Wilderness backpack

Our arrival at Chamberlain Airstrip - look how happy we are!
Ken and I have talked about a trip into the Frank Church - River of No Return wilderness for decades, at least thirty years.  This year was finally the one.  We met with Eric in McCall on a Friday afternoon and by 5PM we were standing in Chamberlain Basin, deep in the heart of the Frank, watching our plane fly away. Ahead of us lay ten days and 100 miles of exploring.  what a great feeling that was!  It was a great trip.  The Frank is all about big, lonely country.  We saw few people and little sign that anyone had preceded us in quite some time.  And we saw (and heard wolves).  Without a doubt it was worth the wait.
