Big Sur coast

A business trip took me to San Mateo for a few days so we extended that to a week. Spent the weekend in Monterey (actually Pebble Beach) enjoying the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel, Big Sur, and Santa Cruz before heading to the San Mateo Marriott. I endured three days in hotel conference rooms while Maria and William enjoyed San Francisco. The central coast of California is spectacular and, surprisingly wide open once out of the inland valleys. It is also very, very wealthy - a dream landscape. Great to spend a few days marveling at, but not really a place where once could envision becoming part of the community. Great vacation. Driving Big Sur with the top down was a highlight for me.
